60 square meters with a tiger and a pink horse

Let me introduce you to the friends I share my flat with: August and the pink horse. August is my cat, as wild as a tiger in his teenage years, but also an expert on being a sweetie. The pink horse was a gift from my dear friend Nina when she went away for a year, on her sunny-moon. Nina promised that he would protect me from any grey days and I can tell you that he has kept his promise so far.

2014 is the chinese year of the horse, so I agree with the wish for a Ponyhofjahr

With a happy end

I inaugurated my new lovely cups this morning, that I got as a birthday gift from my team at work. They are called "Freedom birds", from the Dutch brand Pols Potten. I immediately fell in love with these cups telling a story with a happy end. And freedom is also what this day has been about. Thursday is usually my day off, and full of moments of freedom, like sleeping until half past nine and having chocolate for breakfast, taking pictures and writing blog posts.

I love the feeling of not feeling…

…any real difference between weekdays and weekend. When I left my life as a student behind, I expected having no time for anything else than work during the week. Luckily this was not the case, and now I have to be concentrated not to mix up a Tuesday with a Saturday or a Monday with a Sunday. Well, that may be related to the fact that I work part time, but also because it´s quite easy to make a Monday glamorous or a Thursday spectacular. Tonight was one example for that, going out for dinner with two dear friends, on a very ordinary Wednesday evening.  Or is it only Tuesday?

The coffee friends

A cosy café is the best place to hide from a grey day, isn´t it. Café des Amis in Zurich is a perfect hiding place where I spent the afternoon with two of my best friends. It is not difficult to fall in love with this café, with its beautiful chairs, tables and lamps. The muffins were not bad either and the shape of the windows gave us a feeling of sunshine, this grey January afternoon.

Saturday 25 January 2014

Some weeks ago when we were leaving 2013 behind, and turned the page to 2014, I felt this would be a year full of possibilities and changes. I wanted to keep on dreaming, but also turn more dreams into reality. I started by cutting my hair and now I continue with the blog I´ve been thinking about for quite a while.

I would like to spend more time with the things I feel most passionate about. So this is a blog about home furnishing and the 60 square meters where I live outside Zurich, with a nice view on what we would call mountains in Sweden. The Swiss use to call it hills. The blog is also about beautiful corners of Switzerland and other places on the planet, DIY-projects, precious everyday moments and of course about dreams which will come true, or stay as the beautiful dreams they are.

Welcome to a Small happy home!
